Victoria : Subscription tickets that offer discounts over single tickets of up to 25% are now on sale for the Victoria Dance Series. New this season, tickets buyers are invited to Build Your Own Series by selecting any 3 of the six productions. This option allows people to tailor a package that fits their taste and their budget. The Series welcomes the return of the National Ballet of Canada (with orchestra) in September to kick of the season, followed by the popular Les Ballets jazz de Montreal in November. Also in late November, the VDS has engaged the Victoria Symphony to accompany Alberta Ballet’s presentation of the family classic Nutcracker.
The new year brings an exciting new production of The Messiah with orchestra and choir by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in March. Vancouver’s butoh dance company Kokoro will perform the profoundly beautiful Sunyata at the McPherson in April and the season ends with Victoria’s favourite local girl with an international reputation, Crystal Pite in a new two-hander with live music entitled Double Story, also at the Mac.
Subscribers can choose between a 5-show Ensemble Series package which includes all the above productions (minus Nutcracker) or a 3-show Main Stage (National, Ballets jazz and RWB) or 3-show Second Stage (Ballets jazz, Kokoro and Crystal Pite).
